Tips:

*Designs can be

*Easy: use only one sheet of paper

*More detailed: use a paper collection and cut various shapes

*Most elaborate: include photos in your design (adds time & planning)

*Non-symmetrical template designs can be flipped or turned sideways to change the direction of the layout.

*Be mindful of any design your paper has. If an overall design, the direction is open. If using stripes or other obvious design be aware of paper placement when tracing/cutting.

*To draw on paper and not have to erase lines, the paper can be flipped over before tracing.

*I use the blue clips whenever possible to stabilize tracing on large pieces of paper.

*Use the trimmers for straight lines or circle cutter, when possible, for convenience and easier cutting.

*When you begin cutting out shapes/photos, be consistent with where you cut: 1) ON the traced line,

2) To the Left, 3) To the Right

*Cut apart the sections traced for ease of cutting out smaller pieces.

*Use the traced design on the cardstock as your staging area to place cut pieces of the design.

*Clip the template to your base page. (Card stock, designer paper, album page) and adhere pieces to the page with Repositionable Tape.

*Cut pieces can be slid under the template if you’re not cutting all the lines which combines the shapes creating a larger piece.

*When tracing photos, use the blue photo pencil so that any leftover lines can be rubbed off with a cloth or tissue.

*Base page or designer sheet to place onto card stock can be trimmed to 11” x 11” and will create the outside edge frame. (Appears as a white frame around the entire template)

Tips and Procedure

Procedure:

1) Choose your design/style/theme of template and coordinating paper.

2) Decide if you want to trace and cut all or just some of the shapes in the design.

3) Trace the design onto your papers and photos (if including) *Remember to check the direction of the design if obvious, like striped paper.

4) Cut out the pieces, placing onto the Card stock staging area ( I have traced the designs on the cardstock)

5) When all pieces are cut and approved by you, clip the template to your base page and begin adhering with repositionable tape until your design has been completely transferred.

6) Carefully unclip and lift the template off your base page. It is standard practice to adjust some of the pieces once the template is removed…the beauty of using repositionable tape.

7) The design is complete but at this point you may want to add punched or sticker borders and embellishments to frame or finish the layout.
